General principles of fluorescence resonance energy transfer

Abstract Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) is a powerful technique, that is valid to determine macromolecular interactions of fluorescent molecules. Due to the method based on the dissociation - association processes between macromolecules it can be conducted kinetic researches. Distance of interaction between donor – acceptor might be estimated by FRET analysis. FRET microscopy overlaps the limit of resolution of light to make us investigate conformation and function of proteins in living cells.
