Most of Georgian mountainous regions undergo a process of depopulation, which can become a reason of desertification of ancient settlements, thus, posing a serious problem for the country. To face this issue, Georgian government adopted the law, known as the “Mountain Law”, on the 16th of July 2015. The purpose of the law is to stimulate social-economic progress of the mountainous regions through benefits, as guaranteed by the Constitution, and, thus, ensuring the welfare of the population of the mountainous regions, as well as, providing a standard of living, promoting employment, and improving social and economic situation. Globally, this is the area of my scientific research. I studied the situation of these regions in the framework of the “Mountain Law”, and, on this background, I analyzed the demographic situation of Tana Valley.
