The process of establishing vine varieties in Georgia has been going on for centuries. Agricultural varieties are local vine varieties that are adapted to climatic and soil conditions, this is what led to the formation of unique vine varieties that are closely related to the place of origin. Racha-Lechkhumi viticulture zone includes Khvanchkara and Tvishi micro-zones, which are known for their existing aboriginal, unique vine varieties. Each microzone is formed in a different geographical environment, which makes them unique and inimitable, the topic of the project is the vine requirements for environmental factors, the current state of viticulture, natural, social, economic conditions and perspectives for sustainable development of viticulture in Racha-Lechkhumi zone, Khvanchkara and Tvishi micro-zones. It is also very important how the vineyard areas have changed over time, which is mainly directed towards the decrease, despite of growing demand for both microzone vine varieties and the wines produced here.
