Annotation Over the past two years, “coronavirus“ has become the most widely used word in various languages around the world. Today, this word for many people is synonymous with an ongoing battle with an invisible enemy. That is why it is interesting to study what the nature of the enemy is in order to stop and localize the pandemic caused by it in a timely manner. The current 2019 coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has put the world in serious trouble and created a huge demand for fast and reliable diagnostic tests. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is one of the most reliable methods for detecting coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV_2) new acute respiratory syndrome. RT-PCR is considered as gold standard. The purpose of this study was to compare two fully automated different real-time polymerase chain reaction – based test platforms: Roche Cobas 6800 SARS-CoV-2, which recently received FDA approval for emergenct use, and a Genexpert MTB/RIF Cartridge based PCR test. They are directed to the new SARS-CoV-2 virus with detection, sensitivity and efficiency (flexibility, production capacity). Summarising up the data obtained during the study, it can be noted that both machines used in the experiment showed approximately the same results. Although, Roche Cobas 6800 SARS-CoV-2 has demonstrated the little advantage over Genexpert MTB/RIF Cartridge based PCR.
