Content of major ions and some heavy metals in the river Mashavera

Author: Ia Mamukashvili
Keywords: river Mashavera, Mineralization, copper
Annotation:

Pollution of natural objects (water, soil, air) make biodiversity, unity of ecosystems and human health be in danger. Our purpose was researching of chemical composition of the river Mashavera near ore enriching combinate. In particular, study about main ions ( HCO3-, Cl-, SO42-, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+), some heavy metals (lead, copper, zinc, nickel, manganese) and estimation of pollution level based on experimental results. Mineralization of the river Mashavera changes over the season. This point is less in winter than in spring and summer. During increasing mineralization, carbonate class water goes to carbonate-sulphate or sulphate class water. In Kazreti, water analysis near the ore enriching combinate shows that composition of manganese was two-times higher (0.2mg/L) than maximal allowable concentration (0.1mg/L). The composition of copper is in range of 2.98-3.90 mg/L, what is 3-3.9 times higher than its allowable concentration.
